We are on our travels again! This time we are heading over to Canada to do a mini road-trip from Toronto up to Montreal and on to Quebec City. It should be a warm break at this time of the year.

In the DAA Exec lounge, and I’m leaving from gate 302 on BA0833 back to Heathrow next leaving at 08:55. So far the trip has gone according to plan and I hope the last two flights carry on that tradition.

Well having left about 10 mins late from Manchester, and arriving 10 mins early at Heathrow it was disappointing to have to sit on the apron for 15 mins whilst an aircraft got ready to leave the gate we were arriving at. Never mind.

The day has arrived - I’ve finished off my last bits of work before the weekend including attendance at the Service Review session this morning where one of my changes had caused a serious delay to financial reporting processing at a leading bank (I’m not proud of this by the way).

Time to chill and earn some serious miles with BA and AA. This trip will take me from Manchester to Heathrow, over to Dublin where I stay at the airport Hilton, then it’s on to JFK in the morning where I have my interview to complete my Global Entry application.

Bit scary this - my first overseas trip by air on my own! At 47! I’ve always had someone in tow to rely on for finding my way around, or picking up things from hotel rooms when I have left them, and there’s no one but myself to rely on.

The flight from LHR was pretty good. Upper deck was comfy and I had plenty of legroom in 62K, good selection of films and food was pretty decent as well.

Wandered across into the airport and through fast track security at BRU and popped upstairs to the BA lounge which was very pleasant, and quiet at that time in the morning.
