Weekend in Stockholm in Aug 2023: Day 1 – Home to Heathrow

It’s time for us to head to Scandinavia! Although we won’t be flying to Sweden today, we are starting our journey. We will be staying overnight at Heathrow ahead of the first BA flight to Stockholm in the morning.

I had a full day’s work today; Vick had a lot of chores around the house. Somehow, we managed to get packed in time to leave the house late afternoon.

In going about our business during the day, we both suspected the kitties knew something was up. This feeling must have been firmly established when they were fed early. But with their heads in the trough, we took the opportunity to hit the road.

The drive to the M40 was the slowest we can ever remember. First off, there was a huge queue to cross the bridge at Culham. Then we picked up a tractor pulling a trailer on which there was another tractor. To be fair he kept up a half decent speed, but it naturally held up a load of cars behind him.

Once on to the M40, it was an easy drive down to The Sofitel, London Heathrow. I dropped Vick off to get in the check in queue, then I drove down into the car park and found one of the last remaining spaces.

We checked in and picked up keys for room 3208. I’d forgotten how nice the Sofitel is, and of course how convenient it is for BA at Heathrow T5.
