Weekend in Stockholm in Aug 2023: Prep

An old Abba cover
An old Abba cover

Did you know that there is an Abba Museum in Stockholm? Bit of a no-brainer really. It’s a must-do, but it only reaches no. 6 in the TripAdvisor charts. What else does TripAdvisor suggest?

We booked ourselves into the Abba Museum for a Sun morning visit, although that may cause us some issues with the Women’s World Cup final, where England will be facing Spain on Sun morning.

The no 1 attraction is the Vasa Museum, which tells the story about the Vasa ship, which capsized and sank in Stockholm in 1628. After 333 years on the seabed the mighty warship was salvaged.

Today, Vasa is the world’s only preserved 17th century ship. Not entirely convinced! We have visited scandenavian ship museums before and they are not that exciting.

The Nobel Prize museum only comes in at no. 29 in this week’s hit parade, which is surprising. We may pop in to see what the fuss is all about.

The other thing we have booked is an Archipeligo Cruise on the river. Vick likes the idea of seeing Stockholm from the water.

Anyway, we look forward to it being a relaxing weekend.
