Tier Point Run to Hawaii in Nov 2022 – Day 3 – Honolulu
I was very pleased to find a very accommodating check in agent at the Hilton Garden Inn (HGI). My suite wasn’t available but she found a very nice partial ocean view room on the 19th floor for me that was available immediately. I was well impressed when I got to my room.
I do seem able to find hotels with rooms with great views of car parks for some reason!
I wanted to take advantage of having an afternoon in Waikiki, so I headed out from the HGI as soon as I could. I wandered down to the beach and on towards the Hilton Hawaiian Village resort, but it was so warm that I decided I would throw the towel in within about 30 mins and I headed back to The Cheesecake Factory (TCF), close to my hotel.
There was no wait at TCF for a table at the front outside. Vick and I love coming to TCF as is evident in our blog posts when we are away on hols. Starting off with a Sam Adams and some chocolate bread is just the best way to start any meal!
After enjoying the final crumbs of my club sandwich and fries, I was ready to head back to the hotel for a sleep. It was only about 4pm, but I had been on my travels for a long time with very little opportunity for quality sleep, so it was about time!
At 9pm, I decided to go out for a walk; I thought it might help me sleep properly overnight. It was a lovely temperature outside – it was fresh but there was still some warmth in the air. I walked down to the main road and into the HHV to see what was going on. By the time I got there, the place was starting to close down. There were some people on the beach; some were fishing, but all of the restaurants were in the process of closing up shop for the night. It was after 10pm by the time I got back to the hotel, feeling pretty tired and a little sweaty after a decent walk.
I wasn’t sure what I would do tomorrow. Pearl Harbor? Diamondhead? It was going to be another very long day, so I was wondering whether I shouldn’t expect too much of myself. I’d have to decide in the morning.
