Tier Point Run to Grand Cayman in Dec 2013: Day 2 – Dublin (DUB) to New York (JFK)

Woke at 05:30 just before my alarm was due to go off, having slept pretty well. The Hilton bed was very comfortable, but otherwise the Hilton wasn’t anything special.

Caught the 06:30 shuttle to the airport and no need to use Fast Track to get through Security – minimal foot traffic to deal with. Straight into the Gold Circle lounge.

Breakfast options were limited – I certainly wouldn’t pay to get in here, and I am a little disappointed to have turned down the Hilton breakfast now.

Waiting to go through customs US pre-clearing, so that we can avoid the queues at JFK, and then on to the AA291 to New York.

Should be able to get online since they offer wifi all across the pond.

Next update from onboard the flight hopefully!

So much for wifi on board! I think that was probably a confusion that AA has caused themselves by using the same flight no (AA291) for two different flights.

This flight also carries on to Austin, and no doubt that the domestic leg will have GoGo Inflight wifi.

Anyway, flight was fine – although it felt long. I thought I may have a spare seat next to me and the window which I was looking forward to taking advantage of, but unfortunately it was not to be – we ended up with a Middle Eastern family of 4, spread around business class.

The girl sat next to me never said a word all flight. The guy in row 1 complained about his seat (not sure why), but he finally managed to get moved to a few rows back.

Finally took a shot of a meal that has been served to me. That seems to be a pre-requisite of any mileage run report. This shot is of my Chateau Briande which was nicely tender.

On arriving into the New York area found snow on the ground. Final approach and landing was a bit bumpy.

Managed to navigate my way from T8 to T4 using the Sky Train so that I could go for my Global Entry interview. I got a French woman who I couldn’t really understand that well, but it all seemed easy enough. It was fairly busy but they were happy to accept me a few hours earlier than planned.
