I arrived at Gate 18 in time to board alongside the last passengers. Of course, I got a red "no no" when scanning my face at the gate; BA needed to check my passport before I could get on.

The AA Lounge at the low-B gates was packed again. I'm sure it was never this busy when I frequented Phoenix years ago. Perhaps there are more passengers with status? Perhaps I have been unlucky with timing?

Starbucks was very relaxing, and I needed the caffeine to top-up and breakfast. The staff were friendly, which was a bonus.

Normally, I try to minimize the distance from the place I spend the last night away to the airport I am due to fly from. It just minimizes the risk of anything going wrong! That's my natural risk-averse approach to travel.

I managed a decent sleep overnight. First sleep started around 5pm and lasted until about 10pm. I then up for a few hours and then grabbed 3 extra hours, finally waking at just before 4am.
