I decided to go Flight Connections route for a change. It seemed to cause a stir as the staff didn't really know what they were looking for on my boarding pass and were getting confused between domestic connections and international connections.

After a quick dash to passport control, it was fairly evident it was a quiet time for the airport. There were no other aircraft sat at the 200 gates and the corridors were empty. I think I woke up some of the border team when I got there.

Heathrow T5 was fairly quiet after taking the lift up to Departures on level 5. I thought about popping into The First Wing (TFW) check in area to get my boarding pass validated, but due to the queue, I decided to head straight through security.

It's all been relatively straightforward for this trip. I originally booked this trip back in June, on the basis that I was almost guaranteed to see an AA flight change sufficient to allow me to better manage my time on this trip.

The benefit of arriving into one of the central gates at T3 is obvious - it's much closer to Arrivals and Flight Connections.

The cabin crew lead had proactively checked who was getting back on board before I mentioned it to him. He wanted to find out how easy it was and noted there are not many 80 TP-places like Sofia now.

T3 was not as busy as normal, possibly due to it being a Tue. But T3 Fasttrack Security was now back in its normal place, having had the new 3D scanners installed.
