Weekend in Stockholm in Aug 2023: Day 1 – Evening at Heathrow
The Sofitel is the place to be when staying at Heathrow. It’s not cheap, but it’s so convenient. It’s also got a decent selection of restaurants on site.
After a short refreshing nap in our room, we decided to head down to one of the restaurants in the hotel to have our first meal on our weekend away. It didn’t quite turn out the way we wanted it to!
There was a short queue at 6pm to get into Vivre, although it didn’t take long before we were shown to a table. We quickly ordered drinks and settled down to enjoy our evening.
The menu is an interesting combination of a number of different tastes: Indian, Thai, Italian and classic British meals. We both chose a goat cheese starter, which was expensive but very well prepared and very tasty. A good start to our meal.
For main course, we both ordered curries: Vick went for a Thai veggie curry and I ordered the butter chicken. The goat cheese got the juices flowing, so we were looking forward to our main courses.
We waited for a good 30 mins and Vick started the “stare”. Eventually our waiter got the message and went in search of our curries. Another 10 mins passed and some meals eventually turned up. Our waiter made a lame excuse of the food waiting at the pass and him not being advised.
Anyway, our main courses were here, finally! Mine was pretty tasty, although not terribly hot. Vick’s was disappointing and even with some additional vegetables, didn’t really hit the highs that were expected.
We left soon after, having not been asked to pay any service charge.
