After fighting with the baggage carousel, our priority baggage came out (almost) last. The baggage carousel system wasn’t very intelligent and consequently, there were a number of collisions between bags being injected onto the carousel with bags that were coming around again, having not been collected first time.
I ordered an Uber and on the basis that Sam had brought the kitchen sink I thought I would order an Uber Black – more substantial vehicles with likely more boot space. Unfortunately, the idea of any Uber taking us to our destination was unlikely (as became apparent later in our trip).
We deduced the only way was to queue for a normal taxi.
We finally picked up a tiny-looking taxi and just about managed to fit Sam’s kitchen sink in the boot.
The first 80% of the trip was fine, but then the taxi driver realised where we were heading, and in his broken English, he explained that the streets were very narrow and he wouldn’t be able to get us directly to the hotel.
He would drop us at a junction and then we could easily walk the 100 yards or so to the hotel.
That at least explained why none of the Uber drivers fancied a difficult trip into the city and a difficult conversation with some tourists to explain why they couldn’t take us to where we wanted to go.
We finally made it to the hotel and the door was ajar. It was 10pm by the time we arrived but any sense of tiredness was put on one side as we entered an amazing hotel with a courtyard and stunning lighting, emphasizing the character of the hotel.
After a whispered introduction to the hotel, we made it up into our room 19 suite, dumped our stuff and headed back down for a complimentary drink in the courtyard.
A truly amazing welcome to Seville!
