Popped over to visit Dusseldorf for the first time, to allow me to start a TP run to Indonesia. We looked forward to visiting a new place.

It’s unusual for us to be travelling on a Saturday, but a Saturday it was for our flight out to Seville. The plan was to have a leisurely start to the day and then we had vastly different expectations as to when we would leave home for our 4pm flight to Spain. Vick was planning on leaving at 1pm; I was planning on leaving at 11:30am. Between the two of us, we worked something out.

As it happens, we were ready to go by 10:30am. Vick had been packing since at least a week before and I started packing at about 8am.

It goes without saying that I was packed before The Vickster was! But that is the right of the birthday girl! She can take as long as she wants on her birthday weekend bash!

The drive to Gatwick comprised the A34 heading south, the M4 heading East and then anti-clockwise around the M25. It wasn’t an enjoyable drive.

The traffic was heaving in places; it rained incessantly at times and driving was consequently fairly slow. It highlighted why Heathrow is so much more preferable to fly from than Gatwick. Heathrow is just so easy to get to and never takes more than 50 mins or so. Today it took us almost 2 hours to reach Gatwick.

Once here, it was pretty straightforward finding the valet parking on level 2 of the South Terminal car ark. It wasn’t very busy and the lady that checked our car was friendly. We even remembered to put the car on valet, to ensure the car park drivers didn’t need a pin to drive.

We were soon into the First check in area where we got a lovely message from the BAEC team.
