Tier Point Run to Tucson in Oct 2024: Day 1 – Dublin DUB to London Heathrow LHR

After the excitement of my first B2B at Dublin since the BA move from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2, I had a pretty boring wait at Gate 302 for my BA flight back to Heathrow to board (no pun intended).

Group 0 was called (as per the new BA boarding policy). But due to another BA IT cockup, I noticed this morning that my boarding passes didn’t reflect me being a member of BA’s frequent flyer programme.

Consequently, when I arrived at the CCR, that was one of the issues I asked the team to resolve for me, which they had done.

Cloudy on the way back to Heathrow, but at least it was dry!

But they only re-printed my flights from my BA flight to JFK. I.e. my boarding pass for my flight from Dublin to Heathrow still had no evidence of my real status with BA, so it just said Group 1.

I tried my luck with a poorly worded explanation to the gate agent as why she should let me through as Group 0, even though my boarding pass only said Group 1. Luckily she took pity on me and let me on first.

I said hello to the cabin crew, who were not that bothered to be honest, and I was soon back into seat 01F.

There was a short delay in pushing back due to an ATC restriction at Heathrow, but that wasn’t going to cause me any concerns.

We were on the runway at 11:16, exactly as predicted by the captain in his pre-flight announcement.

I was hoping that service might be a tad faster on the way back to Heathrow! And it was!

It was an early lunch service comprising cold salads: chicken or chickpea. I went for the chicken, which was OK. The creamy dressing was especially good.

The highlight, though, was the cherry and chocolate mousse, which was stunning. I could have eaten a few of those!

We arrived into Gate A22, and there was no delay in turning on the stand guidance system, attaching the airbridge or opening the door.

Amazing! Off I trotted through UK arrivals and up the lift to The First Wing.
