I found T3 in a similar state as i did over the last few Saturdays. It was plenty busy, with passengers waiting for check-in to open.
The escalator was closed this morning, so I took the stairs instead. I was first in the security queue today, and they duly opened a few mins early.
To help my step count, I decided I would stretch my legs by walking up to the end of T3 and back again.
It’s part of my normal TP running exercise, but I haven’t had the time on these early start days, but I made an exception today.
It’s amazing how many members of staff were hanging around, chilling out on the seats around the terminal. Why do so many people need to be in at this time in the morning?
After queuing for 15 mins to get into the BA Lounge, I grabbed my two mugs of coffee and bumped into Dan.
It was good to see a friendly face and another running the gauntlet again today.
As one that some consider a bit of a risk-taker when it comes to B2Bs, I still think about the what ifs..
What if we arrived so late into Sofia, would we get through security to get back airside? If the flight departure time had already passed, why would the automated security gates let me through?
I hoped it wouldn’t come to that, and deep down, I believed that the risk was really low, but risks sometimes turn into reality. I just hoped I didn’t need to deal with that today…
The flight departed from Gate 26, and i headed up there about 40 mins prior to scheduled departure time.
Boarding commenced fairly quickly, and I was soon on into seat 01A. Boarding seemed to take much longer than normal. So much for trying to get away earlier than normal.
We pushed back a few mins late, but we were on runway 09R just before 6:30am. That meant we were on time for arriving into Sofia.
Delays in getting seat power again. I had to ask the cabin crew, and i saw them switch it on. It became available immediately…
There were no menus today, but the same breakfast options were available.
Normal full English today, but was given a croissant rather than being offered a choice. I got the impression that this cabin crew were cutting corners.
Breakfast was ok. The scrambled egg is my key measure, and it wasn’t as soft and fluffy as it should be, so it wouldn’t have won any awards.
We hit some serious turbulence about an hour out of Sofia. Didn’t last long, but it forced everyone to grab hold of their stuff.
Some nice shots of the white stuff from the port side on approach into Sofia.
We arrived at Gate B9 on the other side of the terminal building to my previous trips, and the airbridge was attached. A chance of an easy B2B transfer!
