Tier Point Run to San Jose in Nov 2023: Day 4 – San Jose – Morning
My first full day in San Jose! That rhymes!
Looking forward to finding out what San Jose has to offer.
Unsurprisingly, I didn’t sleep that well overnight. I slept for a few hours late evening, awoke and caught up with Vick by phone.
Then I got some more sleep, but was up at around 3am.
But to be honest, that’s about par for the course for the first night after a trip to the west coast.
I decided to check out the Tesla supercharging capability first thing, when it was quiet and I could avoid making a fool of myself to others. Everything is different with the Tesla Model 3!
I combined my visit to a supercharger with a drive to the earliest opening Starbucks I could find (5am is late for me!)
Supercharging was fine. I topped back up to 80%, which took about 15 mins. The charge should feed through Hertz and directly on to my credit card.
I headed on to Starbucks and picked up my normal coffee. Then I headed back to the hotel to enjoy my coffee relaxing in bed.
Breakfast was available from 6am in the hotel. It was the normal Hampton Inn fayre, which was nice enough.
I took my laptop down, so I could stretch out the early morning “event”!
I also took the opportunity to plan out the rest of my day.
I decided to book into the Winchester Mystery House (aka The House) tour.
It sounds like a bit of a bizarre place, but it’s one of the tourist hotspots in San Jose. Should be an interesting experience!
Over breakfast, I built a plan around the sorts of things I like doing, so from the hotel, first stop would be a Starbucks close to The House. I could then park up at The House and drink my coffee.
From there, I’d head back to the Westfield shopping mall to go to Panda Express. From there, I’d head to the Hilton Garden Inn, just down the road from the Hampton Inn.
That should allow me to finish up early afternoon.
I’ve identified a second Cheesecake Factory a little further away, which I might try later on.
The House opened at 10am, with the first tour scheduled for 10:20am. I was booked on the 10:30am tour.
I headed out to The House at around 8:30am and the front parking lot was open. To be honest, it didn’t really look like the sort of place that ever shut.
After parking up, I walked up the road to Starbucks and took in the warm sunshine.
I’ve posted a separate review of The House, so I won’t go into any details here!
Safe to say that I don’t need to visit The House again! It was definitely an experience I will never forget!
