Tier Point Run to San Jose in Nov 2023: Day 4 – San Jose – Afternoon

After losing 2 hours of my life by walking around The House, I drove back to the Westfield Shopping Mall to visit Panda Express.

Not sure what it is about this place, but I love the simplicity of the fast food this place offers.

From there, I headed to my next hotel: Hilton Garden Inn, San Jose Airport, which looked like another relatively new hotel. It was easy to find and looked very nice inside.

Once I had parked up, from the car I checked for availability of a suite at the HGI and one was available.

When I got to reception, I asked about any upgrade and they swore none were available.

When I referred to available of suites via the app, they advised this was an accessible suite.

Both accessible and non-accessible suites were available according to the app.

I asked the front desk whether I should just book it through the app. I did so and low and behold, the front desk staff confirmed the room would be available after 3pm.

So fair to say, the HGI Front Desk didn’t want me to upgrade for some reason…

So I perched myself in the foyer for 2 hours and kept myself busy.

Whilst I was there, I saw no other guests in the hotel, so it was obviously quiet today.

I was finally offered a key about an hour later, so by 2pm I was into my room. The hour was worth the wait – I’ve not had a better Hilton Garden Inn – ever.

I had played with the idea of going out to TCF again, but after enjoying Panda Express at lunchtime, I just couldn’t justify the calories.

What I could justify was a “little” tub of Ben & Jerry’s Strawberry Cheesecake. So I hit the road looking for possible sources of the elixir.

I started with Target, which had a wide range of flavours, but not the one I was looking for.

I wandered around a number of shops near to Target, but none could help.

I decided to drive to the closest Walgreens and that extra drive was well justified.

The Front Desk was able to provide me with some spoons, so it was a feeding frenzy in room 401!
