Tier Point Run to San Jose in Nov 2023: Day 2 – Dublin DUB to London Heathrow LHR

My B2B at Dublin T1 was a piece of cake this morning. As per the recent BA initiative to get Heathrow BA flights away on time, BA pushed back 5 mins ahead of schedule at Heathrow and BA0832 arrived at DUB T1 Gate 204 about 5-10 mins early.

Being in seat 1F with no bags whatsoever, I was off first and jogged to passport control. I had seen the BA LCY flight and the KLM AMS flight arrive just ahead of us, so wondered what sort of queue I would face when I reached passport control.

Although T1 was busy, the euro e-passport kiosks were empty, so that took no time at all. I then jogged through customs.

Headed right after exiting baggage reclaim, up the escalator and I found Fasttrack Security empty, so that also took no time at all.

I was into the Starbucks queue in T1 less than 10 mins after leaving the aircraft.

As it happens, Starbucks messed up my drink big style and then I wasn’t allowed to go down the ramp with a hot drink! So I ended up waiting at the gate for another 10 mins or so.

Bottomline: DUB B2B remains easy, subject to the normal caveats.

On into my usual seat 01F. It appeared that I was the last passenger to board. I had checked when gate was closing and I boarded about 10 mins earlier than that.

The captain announced there was a restriction to how early we could push back.

After take off, service started promptly again. Another full English, although there was a bread basket for the return journey. The outward flight, a croissant was pre-loaded on the tray.

I concluded that although the texture of the scrabbled egg was really good (nice and fluffy), I didn’t like the taste. The mushrooms were by far the best element of the full English, although that was because they were well seasoned. But with seasoning, there’s always the risk of food becoming salty. It found just the right balance.

Also worth a note was the yoghurt thing was also very tasty – on the return it came with a strawberry on top!

I was now looking forward to arriving at T5 and becoming reacquainted with my rucksack!

It was really clear and very bright over London on final approach, even though there were plenty of clouds in the sky. We had to endure a 15 min hold before landing on runway 09R.

We arrived into Gate 22, which provides easy access to a quick way out, which I thought would be ideal to avoid the typically horrendous queues to get through flight connections. However, I may have thought too early on this occasion!
