Tier Point Run to Inverness in Nov 2022

Time for another TP run. This time a local one up to Inverness and back twice over one weekend. All to secure a Gold Upgrade for One (x2) by securing 3,500 TPs in my membership year. That will help with upgrades in my 2022/2023 membership year.

There’s a whole load going for Inverness. I’m sure it’s a lovely place, but the main reason its good from my perspective is that it’s exempted from UK Air Passenger Duty (APD). The exemption from APD for flights from airports in the Highlands and Islands was introduced in 2000 by the UK Government in recognition of the reliance on air transport in the only UK region at that time to have a population density of less than 12.5 people per square km. So it’s a great place to start any trip from. You can typically save about £150 per person on a business class trip to the USA if you start from Inverness rather than somewhere else in the UK. Obviously that is dependent on the pricing being similar to start with!
