Another enjoyable, albeit tiring trip earning Tier Points. Quick summary of highlights and lowlights:

BA Flights

The flights to and from Budapest were pretty good in terms of onboard services. Food was very good; cabin crew were also good. Between BA and Heathrow, there continue to be lots of issues that need to be sorted.

The First Class flights to and from New York were excellent. The food on the day flight to New York was top notch. Unfortunately it was the old First Class suite; my seat was fine but the old Inflight Entertainment system (IFE) is woeful. On the way back it was the new First Class suite which is so much nicer. Shame I didn’t partake in another tremendous looking menu of food.

AA Flights

Normally very consistent in terms of punctuality, determination to get there on time, good levels of service in the First Class cabin. The A321T transcontinental business class seats are always nice and the food is always pretty good. The Hawaii First Class seats are just about acceptable, but it’s a struggle at times. However, they are better than the old 757/737s that used to fly this route.

Shame about the continued inconsistent recognition of GGL status, but I consider that a bonus if it happens.

Ibis Styles Hotel, Budapest Airport

An excellent hotel in terms of location, value for money and style. My one bed suite was good but obviously I didn’t really make too much use of it. Check in could be easier and more streamlined, but I’ll be staying here again in the near future.

Hilton, Los Angeles Airport

Located a good 25/30 min walk from LAX Terminal 4, its in a good location. My one bed suite was good; classic old style Hilton. Unfortunately, I didn’t make that much use of it.

Hilton Garden Inn Waikiki Beach

Fab hotel with excellent rooms and great service. However, they didn’t handle my request for a late checkout well at all, and indeed it cost them 60,000 points as a result of them providing compensation to me as a result of misleading me.

Hilton Waikiki Beach

Just down the road from the Hilton Garden Inn, this was an unplanned stop, but was a lovely looking hotel with great rooms and very good service. As a Diamond member, they looked after me very well with a nice upgrade. Well recommended.
