Tier Point Run to Hawaii in Jan 2023: Day 6 – Budapest (BUD) to London (LHR)

After my entertaining encounter with the Hungarian Border Force, I ambled up the escalator and into the lounge for 20 mins. By arriving early, BA had added on some much-needed padding to my same-plane-turnaround (or back-2-back). Thus, I could take it easy a bit.

I was feeling energised by eating on the plane and by the smile on my face thinking about sitting in comfort with the Hungarian Border Force.

After my 20 mins in the lounge, I headed down to the gate where I queued behind a guy I think must have been there a while. Boarding commenced 30 mins before departure and other than a 1 min hold, I was back into seat 01F in no time at all.

Boarding completed 15 mins prior to departure time. Wow – new record for BA (for me). I then had some hassle over the positioning of my bag in one of the overhead locker, but the cabin crew moved my bag into another locker and advised they would give it me back after take off.

We pushed back early and after a short taxi, we took off at around the scheduled departure time, so I was expecting we would be arriving into Heathrow early.

The standard drinks and nuts service started soon after hitting cruising altitude. About 10 mins later, the meal was served. I chose a very tasty Sri Lankan aubergine curry for dinner.

There were some nice views of central London on final approach. The evening was fairly clear, so I was expecting it to be a bit nippy this evening on the way home.

The flight arrived into Gate A7 – just on the corner of the A Gates. From there it was a short walk down to Arrivals where I found it almost empty. I didn’t bother trying the automate eGates since I know that my passport will never work there. I head straight through to the Seek Assistance line and was processed without delay.
