Tier Point Run to Hawaii in Dec 2022: Day 1 – Home to Heathow

It’s been really cold in the UK for the past few days. Even I have had to move from the home office because the two measly hours of underfloor heating I am prepared to pay for at cheap rate overnight doesn’t keep the room warm enough during the day to avoid my teeth chattering! Vick left for the warm study weeks ago!

Before leaving we enjoyed a brief walk around the public open space in front of our house. Vick and I were fully dressed up in our coats, scarves and hats. Mango and Chutney came as they were!

The cold weather was in evidence on my trip to Heathrow at lunchtime today, with everyone driving more slowly and my windscreen washer fluid freezing up. There was a hefty queue on the M25 but the final mile to Pod Parking was pretty clear.

At station A at Pod Parking, only one pod was in action, so I was invited as a ‘small one’ to share with a family of 3 heading to New York for the weekend.

We talked about my mad trip and the wife’s eyes lit up. The husband made a mental note of Flyertalk in order to gen up on how to game the system. I think we may have another convert!

A very enjoyable trip to T5 with my « New York family » got my complex itinerary off to a great start.
