Tier Point Run to Cancun in Jan 2014: Day 7 – Las Vegas (LAS) to New York (JFK)
Turned the light out at 8:30pm, and woke a number of times (briefly) before finally getting up at around 3am. Will probably help with jet lag anyway.
Checked flights – still ok – still can’t check in on line though.
Got the shuttle bus at 6am – dropped off at 6:15am and then had to queue for 15 mins in the First Class check in desk. No problems with printing off all boarding cards so no issue there.
Up into the security area, and went straight to First Class line where I was checked and I asked about TSA Pre-Check which apparently is in a completely different line – at the far right of the security area (first class line is at the other end entirely) – worth remembering this for next time.
Why I was selected for TSA pre-check the other day when I arrived through the First Class line I don’t know – gave me completely the wrong impression.
Finally through into the line for Starbucks and then into the Centurion Lounge for the last time.
Flight still on schedule.
Onboard now and using GoGo which I purchased earlier in the day. Flight left a few mins late but expecting to arrive at JFK a good 30 mins early which would be great – I’d have more time in the F lounge prior to my flight to LCY.
Been helping someone via private messaging on FlyerTalk. Obviously a member of crew and I’ve already had an offer of an upgrade into First! Hopefully part of the BA crew rather than another airline! We will see whether that goes anywhere!
Reached JFK on time and my goodness me was it cold! I had to get the AirTrain all round the houses to go from T8 to T7, and every time it stopped I got a gush of cold air, and I don’t have a coat on!
Then when I reached T7 (BA’s terminal) I had to cross a road which was completely open to the elements. People were running across the road which also had a gale blowing up it, to avoid freezing!
Security queue at T7 was a nightmare – completely chaotic. People were pushing in having left it late (probably on purpose) to get through Security, and it was a really slow process through the x ray machines. No TSA Pre-Check queue either.
Once through I went up to the First Lounge and into pre-flight dinner which was fabulous. The food was gorgeous. Couple of shots below.
A few shots of the lounges at JFK T7:
Finally boarded the plane and rearranged a few people to allow a family of 3 to sit across a row, and off we went back to Blighty.
