Got to gate D21 about 45 mins before departure and it wasn’t long before they called First class to board. This was my new favourite plane – the 763 – favourite only because they hand out tablets for entertainment.

When the gate agent scanned my BC and the reader highlighted DUPE I said out loud, “that doesn’t look good”. The gate agent walked away for a few moments and came back with a new BC and said that I had been moved to make room for a family. Fair enough – it was still an aisle seat but in the middle this time.

As it happens it probably worked out well. I was sat next to a very nice chap called Evan who ran his own exotic car dealership (Ferraris etc) based at Newport Beach, LA. We had a good discussion about all things gadgets, cars, and the general state of the nation. He was a good guy. He gave me a metal(!) business card.

Anyway, just after I boarded, my mate Nigel Lythgoe boarded as well. The cheek of it – Nigel Lythgoe sharing First class with me!

Evan asked the senior FA whether they would be handing out iPads and she said no – that was a real doomer – it was going to be a really long flight without the tablet to keep us occupied! Soon after we saw the trolleys come out and we got our Samsung Galaxy 10.1 tablet – why the FA couldn’t clarify what we would be getting rather than just saying no you’re not getting iPads, I’m not sure.

I finished off watching Prisoners which was very good. And then I (half) watched All the President’s Men again. Dinner was excellent again – Beef with potato gratin and spinach. In fact it was exactly the same as the other day, so if anyone is interested in reading up on how nice it was, and exactly what was in it, then head back to Day 15.

Soon got to Los Angeles, but got held up getting to the gate because “there was a lot of traffic”, explained the captain.

Briefly popped into the Flagship Lounge to Skype Vick in peace and then it was down to gate 42A for the flight to Las Vegas.
