I arrived at Gate 93 while things were still calm and orderly. I spoke to the gate staff and had my document checks completed early, including showing my D1 visa. That at least saved some hassle when it came time to board.

Photos from Day 12, when I enjoyed an early start to the day in Denpasar, I took a Cathay Pacific flight back to Hong Kong and I had an easy ride on the way to the Skycity hotel.

Cathay Pacific only operated a single daily flight from Denpasar, which was the return leg of the Hong Kong service I’d taken a couple of days earlier.

I briefly considered delaying the start of my sightseeing in the hope that traffic might ease later in the morning. The counter-argument was obvious, though: leave it too late and I’d risk drifting off to sleep instead.

Getting to sleep had been a struggle. I felt unusually cold, largely because the air-conditioning unit was positioned directly above me, and I had a vague concern that I might wake up with a stiff neck.
