This was officially the start of Phase 2 of my RTW trip, which was disrupted by events in the Middle East. It was supposed to restart in May with flights to Doha and Dubai, but all airlines had made changes to their flight schedules, and unsurprisingly, those changes had had a knock-on effect on my itinierary.
My itinerary was heavily biased toward BA codeshares and BA had decided to take action to protect its financial position. That meant cancelling all flights to the Middle East until later in the year and removing all D class inventory on any BA prime or codeshare flights to the Middle East.
I had a number of flights removed by BA and Qatar without any warning, so I had to reorganise all flights in Phase 2. I had constraints being imposed by Qantas (which was my ticketing airline), Qatar and BA.
The biggest issue was that the only OneWorld airline that flew direct to Dubai was BA and with no flights until 1st August 2026 and no D class availability at all, I had to drop two segments and over 4,200 nTPs from my itinerary.
