RTW TP Run in Jan 2026: Day 174 – Home to London Heathrow

This was the last phase of my Round The World (RTW) trip, having been forced into rescheduling the final nine flights and losing two of them due to BA’s business decision to shut down the Dubai route altogether.

I had taken the first two of those rescheduled seven flights in June with a simple B2B to Doha with Qatar Airways.

A month later and I was free enough to fit in the final five flights of my trip and I so needed a distraction!

The day started really early. We were heading through a very hot spell and it remained in the 20s overnight. Last night was particularly warm.

Mango had prevented Vick from going to sleep, so she took our little girl downstairs and Mango settled down in the lounge.

After a very mixed day yesterday, one with the highs of a court victory for a client and the lows of a unjust inquiry to which I was providing evidence, I was up not long after 2am.

My aim was to leave at 4am, but I decided I may as well head off early. At least the roads were nice and clear.

I arrived at T5 Priority Park & Ride at 4:15am. They seem to have renamed this parking facility again! It was Business Parking for a long time, then it changed to Park & Ride Plus and now it is currently Priority Park & Ride. You can find all three names in many locations around Heathrow. Not very helpful or clear to customers.

Anyway, it was a good time to catch the shuttle to Heathrow in time for the opening of The First Wing at 4:30am.
