Wow – where did this trip come from?
I’ve wanted to do a Round the World (RTW) trip for a long time and I thought the Vickster and I might fit it in at some point, perhaps as part of a trip to Australia, but this trip really did come out of nowhere.
I had given up the ghost of renewing my British Airways (BA) Gold Guest List (GGL) status, following BA’s debacle of changing their Frequent Flyer Programme (FFP) in Dec 2024, but I had heard about new ways in which to maximise the earnings of new Tier Points (nTPs), and I started making some enquiries.
My first approach was to Propeller Travel, which had been a prominent player on FlyerTalk (FT) in recent years and I had some initial discussions, but I quickly realised that was going nowhere.
In the end, I made contact with a couple of other FT’ers and I was provided with an exciting RTW opportunity, based on two OneWorld DONE4 tickets. With positioning flights, it means a total of 34 flights, covering just under 106,000 miles split into two parts.
The first part takes place over 3 weeks in Jan and Feb 2026. The second takes place over 1 week in May 2026.
This is the story of my trip of a lifetime. The only downside is I am going without my best friend…
