Holiday USA West Coast Road Trip in Aug 2022: Day 6 – Afternoon and Evening in Hood River

The path next to the Columbia River, under the bridge, was closed due to work being undertaken on the bridge.  So, we crossed over the entry to the bridge and headed back down to the river’s edge.

There were some lovely views across the harbour.  There was a sea plane perched on top of a wooden deck, which seemed odd.  Assume it’s not in use right now.

Downtown Hood River is a quaint little place, primarily based around a single main street; a little hilly, but with characterful shops on either side. We headed back to the hotel and picked up our keys to room 303.  The room was fab: large, balcony gave great views of the river and the bridge taking vehicles into Washington state.  We might head that way in the morning.

After a nap in the afternoon, we headed down to The Riverside restaurant in the hotel at around 5pm.  We picked the right time since tables on the deck soon filled up after we arrived. 

We had a great table and a waitress that was happy to give us some time to enjoy the experience. We had a bottle of local rose, which wasn’t too sweet. 

For starters, I had the meatballs and Vick had a salad. 

For mains, I went for the steak which was gorgeous and Vick went for the gluten-free pasta, which she was a little disappointed by. 

For pudding we both went for the blackberry cheesecake.  The colour was a real standout!
