Holiday USA West Coast Road Trip in Aug 2022: Day 11 – Afternoon and Evening in Monterey

We walked into town wanting to be tourists for a few hours.  Monterey was heaving, but it was nice and warm and the sealions were out in force.

We enjoyed a huge ice cream on fisherman’s wharf and then we walked back to the hotel, looking for a place to have dinner.  Ideally, we were looking for a Thai restaurant, but with it being a Sunday, a lot of places were closed.

We ended up eating in Rosine’s, where we had eaten in the past.  The place had been spruced up and looked quite nice now.  We got a booth and ordered a cocktail to get us started alongside the chips and salsa/guacamole which was lovely.

That’s when we fell for the old trap of ordering way too much.  Really, the starter was enough, but Vick ordered a salad, which ended up quite large.  I ordered the Ultimate Burger (on instruction from Vick) which was the largest plate of food I have ever seen.  

It was like one of those eating contests: eat everything on the plate and you get it for free.  I managed about half of it, then through in the towel. Back to the hotel and planning started for the following day: where can we watch the Liverpool game, due to start at midday PCT?
