Holiday USA SW Road Trip in Apr 2022: Day 2 – Los Angeles LAX to Las Vegas LAS

We walked down through Flight Connections to T4, where we queued up for Priority Assistance; got our AA boarding passes and then up the escalator to TSA Pre-Check. As seems to be the norm nowadays, TSA Pre-Check was limited in its benefits – perhaps it was a quiet time or lack of staff?  We had to hold TSA Pre cards and just joined the main security queue!  Oh well.

Through into the AA Flagship Lounge and we settled down for 30 mins to catch our breath and get a little bit of food and drink. This lounge is always a nice place to be. Generally, it offers up a decent meal and a nice place to relax with great views of the apron.

There was an announcement for me to visit the AA Assistance Desk, where the Concierge Key rep greeted me and invited me to pre-board at Gate 46A.  I thanked her and headed back to where Vick was sitting.  That will help with any challenges in getting our cases on board! Technically our cases are a tad bigger than AA allow and if the agents have a bit of a strop on, they might force us to put our cases in the sizer.

We left from Gate 46A and we were there at the appointed hour.  After about 5 or 6 older passengers who needed special assistance, we pre-boarded and got our cases in the overhead locker without any problems.

Into seats 1D and 1F and we both wanted to doze all the way to Vegas. It had been a long day and we both very much looked forward to our bed in Vegas.

We arrived into Gate D8 and it was a smooth exit.  Vick seemed to be more awake now and we were just keen to get to the hotel. Picking up a hire car at the airport is all very old fashioned, primarily due to the extra cost involved. So to get to the hotel we either needed to wait for the shuttle, which are notoriously unreliable, or pick up a cab.

We walked through to T1 Parking Garage and ordered an Uber, which took about 5 mins for it to arrive.  15 mins later we were at the hotel and we checked into room 612 at the end of the building.

It wasn’t long before we had tuned the light out.
