Story: Holiday to Sicily in Apr 2026
Category: Travel

This holiday was designed to be nice and simple!
BA will fly us from Heathrow to Palermo and back. BA also flies to Catania but that flight leaves from the much derided Gatwick. I think we have been influenced by Bag who point-blank refuses to entertain any suggestion of using “that” airport.
It could have also been my last opportunity to enjoy the benefits of my GGL status. Having retained my GGL status for the 2026-2027 season, that was no longer a big consideration.
We also packaged up four hotels for our week-long trip to Sicily: we are staying a night in Palermo, then have two nights in Taormina, followed by two nights in Catania and finally one night on the south coast before heading back to the airport.
BA Holidays use Avis right now as their car rental provider, so we will be picking up a Jeep from the airport for our trip. Parking in the centre of Palermo should be somethinng to look forward to!
So, a full clockwise circular tour of the whole island!
