Holiday to Las Vegas in Dec 2013: Day 9 – San Diego

Slept much better last night – took 2 melatonin pills and I managed to sleep through to 5am. Up working on the blog and no doubt Vick will awake soon.

Will be heading back into the city today for our final night in SD. We will probably go via Point Loma and we will see whether we can find any whales.

Breakfast was a bit of a farce – we were in the dining room later than normal and it was a real scrum – there were people everywhere in a very small confined area. And the quality isn’t that good at this place either!

Once we had packed up and checked out, we struggled to find our way to Point Loma – first wrong turn we were nearly arrested at a marine corps access point! When I got out of the car to ask for directions, the marine told me to get back in the car. SIR GET BACK IN THE CAR.

Finally got there and it was pleasant to look back at SD from an elevated position. Unfortunately no whales etc.

On the way back we stopped off at the Starbucks at Liberty Station and then we decided to head over the bridge to Coronado – we had never actually been in the hotel so thought we would take a look see. Ended up in a traffic jam – I think everyone had the same idea!

Finally managed to find some free street parking, and wandered around the hotel grounds. Waited 45 mins for a table at a restaurant so that we could sit outside. Took a few snaps and then we headed back to the Bay Front hotel.

Checked in (although we had to wait an hour for our room), and walked out into the Gas Lamp Quarter, not specifically looking for any food, but we decided to grab a beer and a salad at a Mexican restaurant on 5th Ave which was smashing.

Watched Lovelace in our room later on, which was a bit of a sad tale, but interesting to understand how her life evolved.
