I got through Passport Control kiosk first time, although it took a lot of whirring to confirm I was OK to enter the UK! From there, I headed up to the Arrivals Lounge for a shower.

I arrived at Gate 18 in time to board alongside the last passengers. Of course, I got a red "no no" when scanning my face at the gate; BA needed to check my passport before I could get on.

The AA Lounge at the low-B gates was packed again. I'm sure it was never this busy when I frequented Phoenix years ago. Perhaps there are more passengers with status? Perhaps I have been unlucky with timing?

Starbucks was very relaxing, and I needed the caffeine to top-up and breakfast. The staff were friendly, which was a bonus.

Normally, I try to minimize the distance from the place I spend the last night away to the airport I am due to fly from. It just minimizes the risk of anything going wrong! That's my natural risk-averse approach to travel.
