The flight arrived into a fairly basic boarding area, so as soon as I stepped off the aircraft I was hit by warm Fijian air — around 24°C — and it was only just after 5am.

My final flight of the day was a significant one in more ways than one. It was my first time flying with Fiji Airways, my first time crossing the International Date Line, and the first moment I would truly find myself on the other side of the world.
