Another exciting day in Stockholm is expected. The sport is all done and dusted, so we are focused on sightseeing and chilling! A river cruise is on the agenda for today.

Another good night’s sleep was enjoyed by us both. It was a leisurely start to the day and we decided to have breakfast in the hotel to get the day off to a good start. Breakfast was pretty good and I tried Vick’s trusted omelette, ordered at the egg station, which was ok.

After breakfast, we headed out to Starbucks, before walking on to our appointment with an Archipeligo Cruise on the river starting at 10am. With it being the first working day for us in Stockholm, we were taken by the number of commuting cyclists on the roads. Stockholm does a great job at providing cycle lanes and commuters have really taken to them!

After the rain of yesterday, we expected to enjoy a dry day with some sun, but mainly overcast. The clouds would prove to help us avoid the sun whilst cruising along the river.

We joined a queue at just before 9:30am and waited patiently. A number of others joined behind us, but there wasn’t enough info either on our tickets or at the queue to be confident we were in the right place. There were lots of boats waiting for passengers and all we knew was that we needed to be at Pier 15 opposite the Hotel Diplomat.

As it happens, we were waiting in front of the wrong boat – the boat we wanted was the one next door. Although it didn’t really make a lot of difference. We got on in the first 8 or so passengers, so we got two good seats on the top at the back of the boat.

We pushed back at 10am and we enjoyed the initial journey. There was a tour guide explaining who owned all of the houses on the edge of the river and how many of those houses Bjorn Borg owned {it seemed like it had spent at least some time in all of them)!

After 30 mins, I was ready to get off. Not that it was bad in any way, but we were well outside of Stockholm and it was all fairly dull. It livened up again when we reached the other end of the river journey at Vaxholm.

We were only there a minute or two and we were heading back to Stockholm and it seemed like we heard a similar audio tour. We were guessing as to which houses Bjorn had owned from time to time on the way back!

However, it was a lovely trip out and we saw some beautiful houses along the way.
