Weekend in Seville in Mar 2023: Day 2 – Afternoon and Evening in Seville
I spent the afternoon back at the hotel. I popped up to the terrace to check that out and it was lovely.
The other three joined the bus tour at Plaza del Duque de Victoria (which was appropriate). They got on the top deck and stayed there. It was hot in the sun, but when the bus was moving there was a refreshing breeze.
They say it was a great way to see the city (I am not so convinced). They did see lots of beautiful buildings. For more details: https://city-sightseeing.com/en/1/seville/5/hop-on-hop-off-seville
They drove through an area with lots of restaurants. Andrew thought it would be a great place for us to come for tapas tonight. The plan was for us to get a taxi to take us there.
The Plaza del Espana looked lovely – we plan to spend some time over there in the next few days.
The area west of the river has been developed since Andrew and Sam were last here, including the Ceramics museum! Wowser!
We met up with the Keevils downstairs at 6:30pm and we ordered a taxi through the hotel for 7pm.
A round of drinks were consumed and 7pm came and went.
It was about 7:30pm when we decided we would walk out and find a local place to eat.
Disappointing that after the hotel offered to order us a taxi, they couldn’t guarantee providing one for us.
We ended up at a nice little place in the heart of an area of restaurants, called Restaurante El 3 de Oro.
We initially wanted a table outside, but ended up inside. By the time we were walking back to the hotel, it would have been a tad too chilly for us outside, so things worked out ok in the end.
We started off with some basic starters. In Spain this seems to mean meat and salami!
We ordered a type of bruschetta, which was big and a plate of meta and cheese (which came with bread), which was even bigger!
The waitress that took our order laughed when she heard our order – we should have picked up on this key response!
The bruschetta type thing was absolutely lovely.
The huge plate of meat and cheese was simply unnecessary. I keep telling Vick about over-ordering! However big we both thought it was, It didn’t stop me eating most of it …
For main course, I ordered a very delicate wok fried pork dish which was quite nice.
Vick ordered a huge lump of pork cheek, which was very tender but didn’t have a lot of extra special zing about it.
There was no room for pudding, so we paid up and wandered back to the hotel.
The Vickster and I headed up to the terrace to take in the views, which were stunning.
The view down into the courtyard were one thing; then we had the view of the cathedral lit up for all to see.
The Keevils stayed out a bit longer.
Big day tomorrow and an early start! We are taking the train to Cordoba. Looking forward to that, but it meant we really needed our beauty sleep!
