Lap 8 started with a jolt. My watch battery had run out, so my phone woke me abruptly.
Due to the tube signalling issues last night, the Piccadilly line was shut, so I had to fork out £25 for an Uber to T3.
As soon as I arrived at T3, the signalling issues looked like it had cleared. Typical!
It was breezy, but my flight to Sofia was showing as being on time, even though BA had emailed me overnight four times to highlight there was a risk of a delay due to Storm Darragh.
Security at T3 had moved. I assume they were making the necessary 3D scanner changes in phases. Some passengers are such amateurs in preparing for security!
After my quick terminal walk, I bumped into Dan on entering the BA Lounge. Got my coffees and kept an eye on the flight status.
The flight left from Gate 24 (the dreaded bus gate) and boarding had already started by the time I got there. All that meant was that some passengers were stood on the bus!
The aircraft was parked at a T5 remote stand and I was happy enough to settle down into seat 01F. Dan arrived a bit later. He was sat next to me. We had a good chat about all things BA.
We pushed back a few mins late, but we were scheduled to arrive early.
The full English breakfast was the best I experienced in my extensive Sofia TP run. It was primarily soft and fluffy. It was good to end on a high.
Shame the option of a turkey dinner wasn’t on the menu. I quite fancied that for breakfast!
We experienced low-lying fog on approach into Sofia. We couldn’t see a thing on the ground until the last minute or so.
We arrived at Gate B7 (which is our normal gate – I had previously referred to this being Gate B5), and the air bridge was attached.
We queued up at the glass door and were allowed through. What could go wrong?
