What an ungodly hour to be driving to Heathrow! I set my two alarms to 2:30am and 2:35am. My watch alarm did the trick, and I avoided waking the Vickster way earlier than she wanted.

We agreed I wouldn’t even kiss her goodbye on this occasion since I would be back at home late afternoon.

Downstairs, I got my stuff together. I even packed a change of clothes, just in case I got stuck in Sofia. More of that later!

I decided to head down the A34 and along the M4, as my sat nav suggested. Funnily enough, not many other vehicles were on the road at the same time.

My first time parking in the long stay at T3, so that was a new experience for me.

Of course, it’s been renamed to Park & Ride, but what’s in a name?

I arrived at the car park a few mins before the first bus was due to pick passengers up to head to Terminals 2 and 3.

At 4am sharp, the bus appeared, and I was on my way. Fifteen mins later, I was jumping off heading into the terminal.
