It was the normal jog down the corridor from Gate 23 down to arrivals. It always seems a bit odd avoiding passport control when arriving from Ireland, especially considering they still check passports in the process of leaving Ireland.
Anyway, having left the arrivals area, I headed up to Left Luggage and paid my £15 to get my rucksack back.
That’s one benefit of paying a load more for parking and having access to my car at T5 Meeting & Greet!
From T5 Arrivals I headed down to the tube and just missed a train leaving the station.
I had to wait another 10 mins before the next one left for Hatton Cross.
At Hatton Cross, I decided I would wait for the next train heading to T4, which involved a 12-13 mins wait.
That was more preferable to getting sweaty walking down the A30 for 20 mins or so. I’d also never been to T4!
I found T4 pretty busy, but having got the lift up to departures, I followed the signs and headed down the hotels tunnel to Hilton T4. It was all fairly easy.
Got back to the car and it all looked in good shape. Headed through the barrier which readiy accepted my ticket and I was off on my way.
Minor cockup immediately, when my sat nav didn’t give me enough warning to turn left to stay on Sheffield Road, so I ended up in a traffic jam beyond Hatton Cross trying to get on to the M4, so I wasted 10 mins missing that turn!
The rest of the trip was fine. And it was fab getting home, getting a hug from the Vickster and the cats completely ignoring me!
