Within 30 mins of walking off the AA aircraft, I was checking in at the Hilton Garden Inn, Waikiki Beach. That’s pretty impressive.

The hotel is one of my usual ports of call when over here, primarily due to competitive pricing/low points for redemptions.

They have messed me about in the past, but it’s a relatively nice hotel, close to The Cheesecake Factory (TCF), and let’s face it, that’s one of the reasons I come to Honolulu!

I was given an upgrade. I booked a standard redemption, which was likely to be in the basement!

I was given accessible room 1430 at the front with a partial sea view. I wasn’t sure what I was going to get with it being an accessible room, but it was fine.

It had a false balcony: one you can open the door and there’s about a foot of balcony, so you get a sense of having a balcony, without actually getting much of the benefit.

After a 7 hour flight from Los Angeles, I was feeling hungry and irrespective of what I thought I wanted to do, I knew I’d end up going to the TCF. So I decided I may as well head out there straight away – it was not far off 4pm.

It was a lovely temperature in Waikiki – warm but not too hot. The sun wasn’t overbearing, so I enjoyed the short walk to TCF.

There were a few tables outside that were available and there was no queue, so I got a prime table without too many challenges.

I ordered a Sam Adams to start with, then went for a Sante Fe lunchtime salad and had some fries to go alongside. Throughly enjoyable.

Before paying, I ordered a lemon raspberry cheesecake to go, so that I could eat it later on.

Back to the hotel and I set my alarm for 8pm and had a snooze.

Wow – was I startled when it work me up!

Whilst waiting for the Vickster to wake back in the UK, I consumed the cheesecake that was waiting for me in the room fridge.

I caught up with the Vickster. She was in the middle of sorting out the cats. She had a busy day ahead – she was heading down to Devizes for her Queen choir practice.

I convinced myself that I should go for a walk. I wanted to, but I wasn’t sure my body was that interested, but it toed the line and I managed to wander around the majority of my normal haunts.

I reached the far end of the Rainbow Tower and then walked back up Ala Moana Boulevard and along Kalakaua Ave.

It was still warm out and I needed to cool down back in my room.

Need to plan out what I want to do tomorrow, but I guess I’ll have plenty of time to do that first thing in the morning.
