Woke at 05:30 just before my alarm was due to go off, having slept pretty well. The Hilton bed was very comfortable, but otherwise the Hilton wasn’t anything special.

Well having left about 10 mins late from Manchester, and arriving 10 mins early at Heathrow it was disappointing to have to sit on the apron for 15 mins whilst an aircraft got ready to leave the gate we were arriving at. Never mind.

Time to chill and earn some serious miles with BA and AA. This trip will take me from Manchester to Heathrow, over to Dublin where I stay at the airport Hilton, then it’s on to JFK in the morning where I have my interview to complete my Global Entry application.

Bit scary this - my first overseas trip by air on my own! At 47! I’ve always had someone in tow to rely on for finding my way around, or picking up things from hotel rooms when I have left them, and there’s no one but myself to rely on.

Didn’t sleep especially well last night. We were up when the alarm went off at 6:30am. Busy day today - careful plan to get us up, into breakfast, onto the shuttle back to the airport.

We agreed to get up at 7am to help move our bodies with the moving time zone - I’ve just got up at 6:30am so I will see what sort of response I get from Vick in 30 mins!

Holiday to Hawaii in Aug 2013: Day 15 – Honolulu HNL to Los Angeles LAX

Day 15 started badly since I set my alarm clock one hour earlier than it needed to be! 5am instead of 6am. Anyway we had a nice leisurely time on the balcony watching the sun rise with our Starbucks.
