I managed to get about 5 hours kip in my first sleeping session. I woke at just after midnight and caught up with Vick who was struggling with a really sore throat.

There was a local Starbucks that opened at 5am and breakfast was available from 6am. My next flight wasn’t until after 3pm, so I had plenty of time to chill and catch my breath.

I wandered out to the local Starbucks, which was about a 20 min walk away. It amazed me as to how difficult American states make it so difficult for people to walk to places.

There were two bridges over the main highway; neither had a sidewalk, so I had to walk on the grass verge, which others clearly had been forced to do as well. Why make it really difficult for people to stay fit?

With all of the hype of the cold weather front heading south from Canada, I’ve received numerous emails from AA encouraging me to either delay my plans or to proactively re-route to avoid the southern states.

I can’t understand why, since it’s not supposed to hit until Sun 25th when I am well past the area! I’m relieved that my travel plans won’t be disrupted, but perhaps AA simply don’t target their passengers very accurately with these sorts of warning emails?

Dallas was 10 deg c, and it was drizzling, so I got a little damp whilst on my walk, but nothing to write home about.

Starbucks was empty, but that didn’t matter – my coffee tasted great. I headed straight back to the hotel and by the time I had gotten back, my vente caramel macchiato was almost empty. I was very tempted to turn around and head back to get another!

There’s almost always workers enjoying breakfast whenever it first opens up.

Not today. I was first in and I had the place to myself for at least half an hour. My breakfast this morning was an interesting contrast with the breakfast I had enjoyed yesterday in the Chelsea Lounge!

I started off with some raisin bran, followed by some toast and jam (there were no English muffins) and finally some bacon and Yukon potatoes.

After downloading NordVPN, I caught up with the first two of the final three Traitors episodes. Wow – I think Series 4 is the best yet. Looking forward to watching the final episode either in San Francisco or in Bali when I land there on Sunday morning.

I did some checks on Uber prices to get back to the airport and it was coming out at a little less than $30.

So, I used Google Maps to check what the best suggestion was, and I found there is a Dart Orange Line station called Hidden Ridge, which is just 2 min walk away which takes me directly to DFW for $3 and it takes just 25 mins.

So I’ll be able to use that not only for this trip back to the airport, but also for both trips the next time I come back here in 2 weeks time. That will save me $80 or so. I only wish I’d checked that before.

Anyway, I decided to head back to the airport at around 10am. Check out time was 11am and I fancied another Starbucks, which I could pick up airside!
