I had been looking forward to wandering around Doha and along the Corniche that morning. There was plenty to see, and it was great to be out walking alongside the locals.

I hadn’t slept particularly well. Having only turned the light off well after midnight, it took me an age to fall asleep, and I was awake again by 5:30am.

With Doha being three hours ahead of the UK, it was clear this was going to be a very long day indeed.

Breakfast started at 6:30am and was already fairly busy even at that early hour. There was a good variety of food on offer, including a tasty and surprisingly spicy vegetable curry.

After breakfast, I decided to walk down to Old Doha Port first, taking in the views of the rather fancy hotels lining the northern side of the Corniche.

From there, I ordered a taxi to a Starbucks perfectly positioned along the Corniche, with excellent views across the water. For a ten-minute, three-mile ride, it cost me just £2 — cheap as chips.

The Starbucks itself was tiny and tucked away below ground level, but the view from street level more than made up for it.

By this point, it was starting to warm up. The temperature had already reached around 20°C and was still rising, so I began the walk back towards the hotel, stopping frequently to take photos along the way.

Back at the hotel, I decided I might as well head back to the airport ahead of my afternoon flight back to Blighty. The Uber ride back cost £5 — crazily cheap.

Next up: My flight from Doha (DOH) to London Heathrow (LHR) on Day 3 of my Round The World trip of a lifetime.
