I had a comfortable start to my sleep overnight, but I woke up just after midnight and found too many things to stimulate my mind.
I did try again around 2am, but I gave into the pull to stay awake. I knew I would have to do my best to sleep on the flight back to Hong Kong later on today.
One of the things that kept me up was an opportunity to watch my beloved Liverpool finish off their Champions League round-robin phase at home against Qarabag.
Kick off was 8pm back home, which was 4am over here.
A thumping 6-0 win went down very well, so I took the opportunity of grabbing another hour’s sleep before breakfast. The alarm on my watch woke me up.
Breakfast was just as good as yesterday. Today, one member of staff remember that I liked a large latte, so made one for me.
Another member of staff presented me with a very nice plate of two macaroons, with a label thanking me for being a Diamond member. Wow! Thats the sort of service I dream of!
After breakfast, I walked down to the airport for my Starbucks fix.
It was nice and cool this morning, although it was still very humid. I mentally noted how lush the place was and how friendly everyone was.
On the walk to the airport, I considered what a good job the Indonesian people do on keeping their public spaces clean and tidy.
This time I went to the store just outside Domestic Arrivals. It was a nicer store although the staff may not have been quite as friendly.
Checkout was midday, so i had plenty of time to get myself sorted.
Last night, I had identified issues with the Cathay Pacific online check in process.
It was insisting on me having a visa for entry into Indonesia and into Japan, neither of which was required prior to arrival.
I fooled the system by registering the same Indonesian D1 visa for both Indonesia and Japan.
It allowed me to check in to the flights to Hong Kong and Jakarta, but wouldn’t allow me to check in to the Japan Airlines flight.
As it happens, I was not entering Japan on this occasion. I was using Tokyo Narita as the starting point for my second/nested RTW ticket, although I accepted that Cathay Pacific wouldn’t be able to work that out.
Whilst I packed up, ready to head back to the airport for my flight back to Hong Kong, I considered how good a stay it had been at the Hilton Garden Inn at Denpasar (Bali) Airport.
Every member of staff has been really friendly and provided the best service. It must have been one of the best stays at any Hilton hotel that I have experienced.
It was nice to know that I would be coming back here for one more night in a few days time.
