I walked up the airbridge, up an escalator, through an automated door, followed a corridor into a large border control room, with a barrier which was supposed to stop us from getting through.
However, it was pretty obvious where we needed to go, so I pushed on and headed down the All Passports queue.
At this time of the night, it was unsurprising that it was empty, so I was straight into speaking to a border control officer, who asked me what I was up to, took my right hand finger prints and took my photo. Then I was on my way.
Then into another very long corridor, an escalator down and into the main arrivals hall.
I stopped to put on my cagoule, hat, gloves and scarf for the chilly walk to the hotel. I used Google maps to direct me, although it wasn’t difficult!
It was a beautiful walk; cool but not too cold; it was bright enough for it to feel safe walking along the quiet, empty roads.
There was a fair amount of ice on the pavement, so that was a challenge at times. There was also some slush along the way as well.
It took me about 40 mins to get to the hotel and I was warmly welcomed by the hotel receptionist. He checked me in and gave me a key to room 349.
I grabbed a shower and plugged in all my gadgets and hit the sack.
