It was an unusual start to a trip, with our first stop being a lunchtime visit to friends in Reading. Since it was on the way to Heathrow, Vick and I both took a car, so that we could go our separate ways after saying goodbye to our friends.
We had a fab lunch – our friends had prepared a Dishoom-style Ruby Curry, which was amazing and a grape desert which was equally tasty.
After giving the Vickster a massive hug, I found the roads on the way to Heathrow relatively clear and it wasn’t long before I rolled up to T4 Park & Ride (old Long Stay).
I found a spot at the end of a row, which I thought would reduce the risk of anyone banging Bobby Tesla when they opened their door.
The only reason I parked at T4, ahead of my flight to Oslo (which was leaving from T3), was due to my return flight with Qatar arriving into T4 a few days later. It just made sense.
It took long enough for a bus to arrive – we seemed to miss two scheduled bus times before someone could be bothered to come and pick us punters up.
I popped into T4 Arrivals and initially walked down to the tube, but I was disappointed to find that the Piccadilly line was closed for maintenance.
So it was back up and across to the Elizabeth Line, where I had to wait 20 mins for the next train heading to T2/T3.
I eventually reached T3 and headed through Fast Track Security. It wasn’t very busy with people, but there seemed to be some hold up with the scanners.
After leaving Reading not long after 3pm, I didn’t get into the T3 BA Lounge until almost 5pm. Not the best start to my mega trip.
