Review of the BA Lounge at Boston Logan Airport

The BA Lounge at Boston Logan airport is relatively new, having been refresh in 2017. It follows the classic style applied to almost all remote premium lounges – you get the idea from the photos!

We were heading directly back to Heathrow having had two weeks enjoying leaf peeping in New England. We were keen to get home as soon as possible to see our moggies, but we were on the last BA flight to leave: BA0202 leaving at 9:40pm.

It was a perfect opportunity for us to check out the new (ish) BA lounge.

Once through security, we took a left and another left and the lifts and stairs became visible on the left hand side. We went straight up to the BA Lounge. Now there are varying reports about how the lounge operates.

It was open in the morning in support of the BA day flight back to Heathrow. It also supports a Japanese Airlines flight later in the morning.

It was then due to close, ahead of reopening at 2:30pm in support of Iberia flights and (apparently) it doesn’t support BA flights until 4pm.

As it happens, we queued up ahead of the 2:30pm re-opening and we found a very considerate lounge agent that allowed us in, well ahead of the 4pm time suggested for BA passengers to be allowed in.

I don’t know whether that’s the norm, or the fact that we were flying in First Class or whether the fact that I was a Gold Guest List member might have influenced her view. We were just happy to be allowed in early.

The podium entrance might be considered a bit imposing, but we see it as a welcoming sign of a BA Lounge. The illuminated podiums are a nice touch and give it all a refined look.

The lounge is really nice – just as nice as the other lounges similarly kitted out (like Washington IAD for example). It’s got everything a passenger might need.

There is a left luggage room behind the entrance foyer, which is unattended, so passengers could leave their luggage at their own risk.

There is a good selection of seating all around the lounge.

It’s typical BA and you need to be careful you select seating with power available.

Not all seats have power, which is a little bit limiting if you are wanting to work.

Some seats have better views of the apron than others.

These tend to fill up quickly, as passengers wander around, weighing up which seats are best.

There is a good selection of food and drink available in the large self-serve buffet-style catering area.

On one side there is a selection of hot food items including chicken and rice dishes, together with healthy salad items on the left hand side and sandwiches on the right hand side.

On the opposite counter, you can find a selection of wine, beer and soft drinks on the left hand side. Together with lunch time snacks/dips in the middle and some puddings on the right hand side.

All very tasty. We would have tried them all, but we were holding out for a top-class meal in First Dining!

Worth highlighting that the staff here were excellent. Very obliging and helpful with everything.

The First Dining area opens at 4pm and offers the normal high quality dining experience for First Class passengers only.

Perfect for a pre-flight meal before bedding down on the flight back to the UK.

Finally, there is the ability to board directly from the BA Lounge on select flights.

This works well for A380 flights, although all of the current BA flights to/from Boston are 787-based.

But this is still an exceptional facility to offer BA’s premium passengers.

Overall, the BA Lounge at Boston Logan airport Terminal E is a great place to chill out before your flight to London Heathrow.
