We drove a short distance from the Skyline Drive to Waynesboro to find a nice little Starbucks with comfy seating indoors.
In fact, it had warmed up so much, I was contemplating sitting outside, but Vick wasn’t quite up to that.
We avoided the temptation of ordering food at Starbucks. We had a stash of food back at our hotel, so we decided to have lunch inhouse.
Lunch comprised tortilla chips and dips, which was lovely, followed by some cheese and biscuits/bread, with a good amount of Ben & Jerry’s. I think I only allowed Vick one or two spoonfuls.
After a short snooze, we drove into Charlottesville and we remembered the last time we walked along pedestrianised Main Street at the Downtown Mall.
It’s a lovely little place, with lots of independent shops and restaurants. You won’t find a Starbucks or McDonalds in the centre of Charlottesville!
Vick found a cute cats and dogs shop and found some interesting items to purchase.
The last time we were here, we ate at the Downtown Grill, which was located on Main Street. Unfortunately, that’s no longer around. Life goes on!
For dinner, we walked out to Outback, Steakhouse which was just a 10 min walk away, and it turned out to be a stunning decision!
We love Outback – the steaks are great and you know what you are going to get – fab tasting meat!
We started off with a wedge salad with ranch dressing – we should really have shared one between us both.
Vick went for a (new) teriyaki steak kebab with rice and green beans. I went for a (new) delmonico steak, which is a thicker, juicier rib eye steak and it was fabulous. Wow!
That was the best meal of the holiday so far, me thinks.
Back to the hotel and we finished off the first tub of Ben & Jerry’s strawberry cheesecake.
