Story: Holiday Washington DC in Nov 2025

We hung on until just after 8pm last night, so a small improvement on our first evening in DC. I can’t say that my hour of waking moved on much if at all, but the Vickster did significantly better than I did.
The temperature had plummeted to -3 deg c, so we only left the hotel to walk the 100 yards to Starbucks when we knew the doors were unlocked.
The staff recognised us and were very friendly in serving up our favourite coffees.
We sat in for a while – even after just a 100 yard walk from the hotel, it felt comforting to be able to sit in the warmth of the store!
Back to the hotel where we finished off our coffees.
Today had been nominated as our Spy day, which included a visit to the one museum that was actually open in Washington DC!
The International Spy Museum was about a 30 min walk away, which neither of us was now looking forward to, based on how cold we had found the very short walk over to Starbucks first thing in the morning.
But ahead of our trip to the Spy Museum, we had to decide on breakfast!
For a change for breakfast, we decided to visit a different Starbucks store on the far side of The White House.
Apparently it was frequented by the Secret Service, so it seemed apt to visit that store due it being Spy day!
Back to the hotel again and with the International Spy Museum opening at 9am, we planned to leave about 40 mins before, to brace the icy winds heading down to L’Enfant Plaza.
