Story: Holiday Washington DC in Nov 2025

After the disappointment of the Washington Monument, but the warming outcome of another visit to Starbucks, we headed back to the hotel to consider our options.
It was pretty clear that none of the normal sights was going to be open. Vick suggested we might hire a car early to drive somewhere for the day; there was also the option of taking the train to somewhere like Baltimore.
We came up with a plan for tomorrow: The International Spy Museum (run by a private operator) and a shopping mall at The Wharf, where a Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shop is located.
After a bit of a rest, Vick decided she needed a cup of tea, and we had failed miserably to find anywhere that sold milk!
So it was an excuse for another visit to Starbucks. This time up on K street. On the way, we stumbled upon some sunshine, which was lovely to feel.
The tea was wet and warm, which seemed to feel like a bit of a result.
Back to the hotel for a wash and brush up and we were then heading out to our restaurant of choice for dinner: a Peruvian restaurant recommended by our friends.
Pisco y Nazca Ceviche was located on L between the 18th and 19th streets, and we secured a high table in the window near to the bar.
Firstly, it was a fab location and more importantly, the food was really good.
We bypassed the starters, although we were tempted.
For main, Vick ordered the pollo chaufa, which was a chicken and rice dish and came highly recommended.
I went for the bistec a lo podre, which was an odd collection of carb with a steak. The steak came with a chimichurri sauce, rice, fries, plantains and a lovely salad.
Pudding comprised a stunningly good passion fruit cheesecake, which we really should have shared.
The walk back to the hotel was a tad chilly, but we were pleased with how well Vick’s heel had done on our first day of walking around Washington DC. Approx 25,000 steps.
