Story: Holiday Washington DC in Nov 2025

The day that we depart on holiday to the USA is always a great day, but it had been tinged with a bit of sadness and guilt due to our pussies not liking the noise of the fireworks. Last night was particularly bad, and although Mango seemed to deal with the noise ok, poor old Chutney was not a happy cat.
So, we felt a bit guilty for leaving them to deal with it all on their own tonight and over the next few nights. The only mitigation is that activity is likely to die away over the next few days, and I think Chutney may realise that staying inside is definitely the best policy.
We had considered locking them in from 4pm to 10pm, but we can’t take the risk that they need to get out of the house and they can’t. E.g. if there was a fire.
Anyway, we have our team of cat-carers visiting regularly, so they should be fine.
We started off the day in the café as normal. Vick was up about 30 mins earlier than normal, so we got ahead of our schedule. We enjoyed our time with the cats on our laps first thing, and once we had packed up, we took them out for a walk as well.
We headed off at 07:22 (apparently), which is an amazing effort from the Vickster considering she had reluctantly agreed to “target” a departure of 8am.
It was pretty quiet on the roads, but it was foggy. We went the M40 way to avoid the traffic cameras and by the time we rolled up at T5 Meet & Greet, we were looking forward to our breakfast on the CCR Terrace.
