Holiday USA West Coast Road Trip in Aug 2022: Day 7 – Hood River to Bridal Veil Waterfall

On the road by 7am, Bridal Veil Waterfall was our initial stop.  To spice things up a little we decided to drive over the Port of Hood River bridge (https://portofhoodriver.com/bridge/) into Washington state and we drove along the US14 for 15 miles, before crossing back over the Columbia River via the Bridge of Gods (https://portofcascadelocks.org/bridge-of-the-gods/) at Cascade Locks.

There were tolls on both bridges, but on the first bridge, there was no one manning the cash payment kiosk, so we had to drive through on a red light.  The suggestion was that they would write to the address linked to the registration plate of the car and we could pay in response.  That might mean them contacting Hertz and Hertz passing it on to us and charging us $25 for the privilege.  We will wait to see what happens.

Bridal Veil falls was about 42 miles down the road from the hotel and we had to briefly turn off the I84 to reach a collection of waterfalls. 

There was a short trail for us before we could see the Bridal Veil falls, where there was a platform to take in the view of the powerful falls.
